Het Bas van Lier 3 draait niet om de zaken heen:
energiek, creatief en verrassend toegankelijk.
Van Lier zijn eigenzinnige spel grijpt je vast en laat je niet meer los. Met in het achterhoofd Monk, Medeski en Ramsey Lewis weet hij een eigen stijl te creëren die een breed publiek aanspreekt.
Het trio speelt net zo makkelijk muziek van Duke Ellington en Charles Mingus als dat van Lykke Li, Bette Midler of Bobby Gentry. Door deze opvallende keuze van repertoire wordt de luisteraar steeds verrast en opnieuw gepakt.
Onder de titel “Groove or Dare” speelt Bas van Lier 3 “hi–energy jazz with a twist of soul and blues”. Meeslepend, dynamisch en ultra swingend.
Bas van Lier behoeft geen introductie meer, hij is al jaren de stuwende kracht achter bands als De Deeldeliers (met Jules Deelder), Bl3nder (met Def.P), SuperSwamp en het Bas van Lier 3. Verder was hij jaren lang vaste pianist bij Hans Dulfer en meer dan 10 jaar vaste leider van de “Friday night live at Toomler”.
Na een aantal jaren zich voornamelijk te hebben toegelegd op zijn andere liefde, het Hammond orgel, is hij nu weer terug bij het klassieke piano trio format.

With his assertive performance van Lier grabs your attention and does not let go. Inspired by Monk, Medesky and Ramsey Lewis he creates his own distinctive style that appeals to a broad audience.

A very versatile and renowned musician Bas van Lier has been the driving force behind many different bands including “De Deeldeliers”, which extensively and successfully toured theatres and festivals throughout western Europe (with famous Dutch poet and musician Jules Deelder), Bl3nder, a band consisting of a cutting edge rapper and jazz trio which performs on all the major concert stages and festivals (with renowned rapper Def.P), SuperSwamp, and the much sought after Bas van Lier3.
In addition he has performed with many prestigious musicians including world renowned saxophone virtuoso Hans Dulfer with whom he performed as pianist for many years. After several years of pursuing his second love the hammond organ, Bas van Lier has now returned to the traditional piano-trio format.
